No matter who you are, where you go or what you do with your life, you will undoubtedly encounter some humans who are not at all “nice” to you. There will be people along your journey who appear to be filled to the brim with anger and hostility. No matter what the people around them do, they always seem discontent. Sometimes, they are mean to people for no apparent reason at all. And this hurts people.
Smoking cigarettes started for me when I was 14 and I smoked for 20 years. After 19 years of puffing a pack or more a day, I had never really ‘tried’ to quit smoking. I never tried because I am not the type of person who decides to do something and doesn’t do it. And I didn’t see the use in doing the whole — saying I want to quit and not quitting song and dance. I decided that I wasn’t going to try to quit until I was going to actually quit. As my children grew older and my cough in the morning grew rougher, I started to think more often about the health implications of my stinky and dirty habit. I could see how being a smoker was affecting the lives of my family and destroying my health.
The word ‘mentorship’ grinds the yawn gears for some people. Some of you will hear the word and picture something you perceive as extremely boring. Mentorship is not limited to these boring images we may have in our minds of tutoring and textbooks and being forced to learn things because we are ‘supposed to’. Mentorship is an unspoken part of life that kind of just is — everywhere, all the time. It is so much that it is whether we like it or not. You have been being mentored and you have been mentoring others your entire life.
Let’s face it, we live in some crazy times and we can all use as much inspiration as we can get. Some of the little motivational sayings we come across on the internet can seem cliché and downright cheesy. But sometimes all it takes is just a one of these tiny collections of simple words to help motivate us and put us back on the right track. I have always loved to read and I am a huge fan of inspirational quotes.
As an American, there are days where the future of our entire country looks so dark that there is no hope in sight. There are so many problems at such a great scale with so many other co-existing problems that it can appear impossible. The maze is set and it is set with the greatest strategy of the greatest oppressive minds. The further you go down the rabbit hole, the more turns you find and the more impossible it seems to find a solution.
We all have dreams. We all have amazing things that we wish to do with our lives. Every one of us has daydreamed as a child to grow up and live a life full of excitement and adventure. Yes, that may look different to each of us but the fact remains, that when we were young, we all wished to truly live life.
